NOKIA PLANT IN CHENNAI TO REOPEN BY MARCH 2020

Nokia to make a big comeback in 2020! Following a tax dispute that led to its closure in 2014, Nokia’s Chennai plant which has been bought over by Salcomp, which is a Finnish company that is the world's largest manufacturer of mobile phone chargers and is also is the key supplier for Apple. The plant is expected to go into full operational mode by 2020, generating employment to over 50,000 people indirectly, and 10,000 people directly. The government also confirmed that Salcomp will export a major portion of its products produced in India to China mainly. As a preferred mobile manufacturing centre, India is expected to enjoy considerable investments in this space.
