A SECOND AIRPORT FOR CITY AT PARANDUR

Have you ever wondered if the city can do with another airport? Parandur, which is located a in Kancheepuram and is approximately 60 kms away from the current Meenambakkam airport is the proposed site for the second airport. An initial study has revealed that there are no critical showstoppers for the project, however, this requires a clearance from the Airport Authorities of India (AAI) also. While some portion of the land resides with the State Government, the balance needs to be bought. In addition, the government has also asked AAI to visit Mamandur and Parandur to carry out a feasibility study for the project.
